INGLEWOOD,CA – NOVEMBER 17, 2005 – The City of Inglewood’s Recreation, Parks and Community Services Department received calls from several families requesting food for the Thanksgiving holiday, but found that many traditional service organizations lacked resources due to cutbacks or depleted funds given to hurricane survivors. As a result of a clear community need, Inglewood employees decided to collect food to create Thanksgiving baskets for needy families.
City employees have been asked to donate an array of food items, gift cards or make donations to the Inglewood Community Services Corporation. Care Managers will make Thanksgiving baskets and donate them to families the day before Thanksgiving. All donated items are needed by Tuesday November 22, 2005.
The community is also welcome to join this effort to show compassion to those in need. Anyone wishing to donate an item or make a monetary donation may contact the Recreation, Parks and Community Services Department at (310) 412-8750 or visit the office in Inglewood City Hall, One Manchester Blvd., 5th Floor.
