Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of five Commissioners who are appointed by the City Council. 

The Planning Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Council on all planning matters, and makes determinations consistent with the provisions of the State Subdivision Map Act, CEQA, and the City of Inglewood Municipal Code.  It formulates planning policies and conducts regular public hearings on the first Wednesday of each month. 

The five-member body makes decisions  involving zoning and land use considerations.  They are responsible for making final determinations for appeals to Site Plan Reviews, Zone Adjustments, Zone Variances, and Child Care Permits.  Additionally, they  make final determinations for Special Use Permits and Design Review requests (unless they are appealed to the City council).  They also serve in an advisory capacity to the Council for Tract Maps, Zone Changes, General Plan Amendments and Zoning Code amendments. 

 The goals of the Planning Commission include the following: 

  • Carry out policies which guide the growth and development of the City through the General Plan and the Zoning Code;

 

  • Provide a balance between the IMC, the General Plan, community values/issues and property owner interests;

 

  • Act as a forum for the citizens of Inglewood re: development issues;

 

  • Assist and serve the citizens of Inglewood via fair and equitable implementation of the policies and codes of the City;

 

  • Develop and refine ideas that will assist in improving the quality of life; and

 

  • Protect the community values and interests of the citizens w/o fear of intimidation or coercion.
