Mission Statement

The Inglewood Housing Authority (IHA) has a primary focus on improving service delivery to clients, expanding housing choice voucher options for clients, providing safe environments in which to live, and improving compliance with changing HUD policies.

Local Goals

The Housing Authority strives to significantly increase its current level of affordable housing by increasing the supply of vouchers for very low-income families, implementing a voucher homeownership program and working closely with city departments and local non-profit entities to revitalize neighborhoods through the rehabilitation of existing housing.
By attracting and maintaining dedicated staff with specialized skills in the areas of affordable housing, computer software, internet services and legislative research, IHA has the capacity to monitor programmatic, regulatory changes and the ability to implement relative policies.

Fair Housing Policy

It is the policy of the IHA to comply fully with all Federal, State and local non-discrimination laws and with the rules and regulations governing Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity in housing and employment.

The IHA shall not deny any family or individual the equal opportunity to apply for or receive assistance under the Section 8 programs on the basis of race, color, creed, sex or gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, familial or marital status, handicap or disability, or sexual orientation.

To further its commitment to full compliance with applicable Civil Rights laws, the IHA will provide Federal/State/local information to voucher holders regarding unlawful discrimination and any recourse available to families who believe they are victims of a discriminatory act.

Reasonable Accommodations Policy

It is the policy of the IHA to be service directed in the administration of our housing programs, to maintain the integrity of all programs and to exercise and demonstrate a high level of professionalism while providing housing services to families.  The IHA’s policies and practices will be designed to provide assurances that persons with disabilities will be given reasonable accommodations, upon request, so that they may fully access and utilize the housing program and related services.

Translation of Document

The Housing Authority has bilingual staff and resources to assist non-English speaking families in the translation of documents into another language.

CITIZENSHIP/ELIGIBLE IMMIGRATION STATUS

In order to receive assistance, a family member must be a U.S. citizen or eligible immigrant. An individual, who is neither, may elect not to contend their status. Eligible immigrants are persons who are in one of the immigrant categories as specified by HUD.

Waiting List

The IHA uses a single waiting list for admission to its Section 8 tenant-based assistance program for the City of Inglewood. Except for the FSS and Homeownership programs, applicants will be selected from the IHA waiting list in accordance with policies, preferences and income targeting requirements defined in this administrative plan. The IHA will maintain information that permits proper selection from the waiting list.
