Library Board

The Library Board is established under the provisions of the Inglewood City Charter and Sections 2-98 through 2-106 of the Inglewood Municipal Code.  The five members of the Board, one from each Councilmanic District and one from the City at large, receive no compensation for their services.  Councilmembers recommend nominees to represent their Districts.  The members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council.

The Library Board’s duties and functions are "to act in a general advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the municipal library operation…"  The Board may "accept on behalf of the City all offers of donations of money or personal property, where no conditions or burdens are attached to such offer," and to recommend as to the acceptance or rejection of other offers of donations.  (Refer to Section 2-106 of the Inglewood Municipal Code for a more detailed list of duties and functions.)

The Library Board was reactivated in the autumn of 2011 and began its monthly meeting schedule in November.  Meetings are generally at 6:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month; the
calendar on this web site will show the actual date and time for each meeting.  Minutes of Board meetings will be posted here after approval by the Board.
