Wanted Suspects and Request for Information

The City of Inglewood is offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding the murder of Andre Morgan. (Crime occurred November 26, 2001.)

The City of Inglewood is offering a $50,000 reward for information regarding the murder of Kermit Dwayne Mallet. (Crime occurred August 7, 1998.)

The City of Inglewood is offering a $50,000 reward for information regarding the murder of William Tillett. (Crime occurred May 24, 1990.)

 

 VICTIM: CARL SMITH

The City of Inglewood is offering a reward up to $25,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of Carl Smith.

On March 28, 2003, at approximately 12:05 A.M., Carl Smith was walking to his vehicle which was parked at Tamarack Avenue and Kelso Street.  As he was entering his vehicle, unknown suspects shot and killed him.  Carl Smith had no known ties to any gangs.

  VICTIM: JOSEPH HOPPER

The City of Inglewood is offering a reward up to $25,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of Joseph Hopper.

  

On July 2, 2003, at about 9:15 A.M., Joseph Hopper was standing near the intersection of Queen Street and Hillcrest when unknown suspects drove by and shot him.  A second victim was hit but survived his wounds.  Joseph was talking to a male subject who was in a car at the time of the attack.  This person fled the scene.  We are asking that this person contact the Inglewood Police Department.

 

Joseph Hopper was twenty years old and lived with his parents and younger brother near the scene of this crime.  Joseph had a job and was not a member of any gang.  He loved museums and playing football.  He loved reading and playing chess.  He was a friend to many people in the neighborhood.

The City of Inglewood is Offering a $10,000 Reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the persons responsible for the murder of Andre Morgan (pictured at right)

On November 26, 2001, 18 year old Andre Morgan was walking in the 600 block of Arbor Vitae when a gunman approached and shot him numerous times. The suspect was described as being a male black, 28 to 33 years old, 5'9" to 6' tall, wearing a dark beanie, black jacket and black pants. The suspect fled the scene in an older model light brown over dark brown four door car similar to a Ford Tempo. There were two other suspects in the car.

The victim was a member of the Crenshaw High School basketball team. He was going to visit a friend after practice when the crime occurred. There is no known motive for this crime.

The Inglewood Police Department requests the help of anyone with information regarding this tragic murder. Any information provided by any witnesses will be held in strict confidentiality.

The City of Inglewood is Offering a $50,000 Reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the persons responsible for the murder of Kermit Dwayne Mallet

On Friday, August 7, 1998, at 10:30 p.m., Kermit Dwayne Mallet was fatally shot while standing in front of his home in the 3300 block of 79th Street in the City of Inglewood.

At the time of the shooting, Kermit Mallet and several friends were in front of Mallet's home when a white or "light colored" Nissan drove by and fired into the group. The group of people ran and dropped to the ground to avoid the gunfire, but Mr. Mallet was hit by the gunfire. The Nissan vehicle was last seen leaving the area going northbound on 10th Avenue.

While the Police Officers and Paramedics were en route to the location to render aid, Kermit's father, Charles, held his son for what would be the last time. The last words Kermit said to his father were, "Why me?" "Why me?" Kermit succumbed to his wounds on August 9, 1998.

Kermit, a senior at Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was an outstanding citizen. He served in the United States Navy and fought in the Persian Gulf War, where he was awarded several medals.

The Inglewood Police Department is requesting the help of anyone with information regarding this tragic crime. Any information provided by witnesses will be held in strict confidentiality. Please help our community bring the responsible person(s) to justice for the murder of Kermit Mallet!

The City of Inglewood is Offering a $50,000 Reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the persons responsible for the murder of William Tillett (pictured at right)

On Thursday, May 24, 1990, eleven year old William Tillett was abducted after leaving Bennett-Kew Elementary School located at 11851 S. Yukon Avenue. It was determined that William Tillett walked eastbound on 118th Street, northbound on Simms Avenue, then eastbound on Imperial Highway en route to his home in the area of Hudspeth Street and Spinning.

William was last seen alive at about 3:00 p.m. in the area of what was then Thrifty Drug Store located at Imperial Highway and Crenshaw Boulevard.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. that same evening, William's body was discovered to the rear of 4079 W. 138th Street in the City of Hawthorne. A silver or gray Datsun 280Z was seen fleeing the apartment complex shortly before William's body was found. This vehicle was occupied by two male blacks in their mid-twenties. A red bookbag/backpack was found at the Hawthorne Mall the day following the discovery of William Tillett's body.

The Inglewood Police Department requests the help of anyone with information regarding this tragic murder. Any information provided by any witnesses will be held in strict confidentiality.
