Pest Alert - Light Brown Apple Moth
News Image The light brown apple moth (LBAM), an invasive species native to Australia, has recently been detected in Solano and Los Angeles counties, adding to the nine previously infested Bay Area and Central Coast counties.  Single moths were detected in both new counties, and additional arrays of insect traps in both areas have detected no additional moths.

New Alternative Fuel Vehicles Delivered
News Image City of Inglewood, Fleet Management and Transit Services has taken delivery of 17 brand new 2007 CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Honda Civics to be dispersed to City departments in need of new or replacement vehicles. These vehicles will be used by Parking Enforcement and the Sound Insulation, Parks, Recreation & Community Services, and Community Development Departments.

CANINE INFLUENZA (Canine Flu)
Canine Influenza, also called Canine Flu, is a newly identified disease of dogs. It can infect any breed of dog and appears in dogs to be similar to Canine Cough (also called Kennel Cough or Infectious Canine Tracheobronchitis). However, early studies of Canine Influenza indicate that the disease has adapted in the dog from a common infection in horses. It is a highly contagious and sometimes deadly canine flu that is spreading in kennels and at dog tracks around the country.

Africanized Honeybees
The Los Angeles County West Vector Control District will no longer respond to weekend service requests. During the week, call (310) 915-7370 to make service requests. A list of licensed pest control companies, which is neither endorsed nor recommended by the Vector Control District, is posted on the city website, under the Public Works Department. Weekend callers to the Control District will be offered referrals to private companies in the area from this list.
