SEWER MAINTENANCE POLICY
The City does clean, maintain and repair those sewer mains in the street areas, which serve more than a single ownership (and is referred to as a “public main”). The City, however, has no way of cleaning individual sewer laterals from the public main. The City also has no control over what the property owner discharges to the sewer system. Therefore, the standard requirement by the City is that the property owner is responsible for the upkeep of their lateral from the residence or business to the public main in the street.
