- Where is refuse taken? First to Waste Management’s Transfer station where it is sorted. Item’s that can be recycled go Corridor Recycling, Potential Industries or Quality Paper. The remaining refuse is then taken to any one of a several dumps. Because local landfills reach their permitted daily capacity, Waste Management currently uses several landfills including Simi Valley, Lancaster, Palmdale, Puente Hills, as well as their own landfill, El Sobrante.
