The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is charged with enhancing the quality of life for Inglewood residents, businesses and visitors through the provision of comprehensive recreational, social and community beautification services and programs The Department consists of four Divisions – Parks, Recreation and Cultural, Human Services and Community Beautification Services – with the following goals:
- Provide comprehensive recreational and community service programs for youth, families and senior citizens.
- Promote broad access to parks and recreational facilities.
- Expand opportunities for cultural enrichment.
- Maintain a high level of service and maintenance in City parks, parkways, center medians, islands, alleys and trees located on City property.
- Promote community beautification and foster neighborhood preservation through responsive and professional property maintenance, blight mitigation and eradication and anti-graffiti activities.
Our ultimate goal is to help individuals enjoy life.

Join the City of Inglewood for the 64th Annual Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Memorial Obelisk Monument at Inglewood City Hall located at One Manchester Boulevard. The commemorative ceremonies will celebrate the lives of war heroes and pay tribute to the courageous men and women who are currently serving in the armed forces.

The City of Inglewood has been awarded a $2,670,000 grant for use in revitalizing and expanding Center Park, which is located in the southern section of the city at 3656 West 111th Street. These funds are provided through the State of California's Prop 84 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.

The City of Inglewood Mobile Recreation Program invites you to come out and join the fun! The Mobile Recreation unit can be found at Center Park and will provide fun activities in a safe environment for kids ages 5 and up. Kids can enjoy arts and crafts, outdoor games and physical activities. Mobile Recreation is a free program and children may come and go freely, however, participants are required to complete a registration and liability form. Students are also required to sign in and out daily. Schedule is subject to change depending on City-programmed activities, special events and inclement weather.

Athletic/football/soccer fields are the toughest of all turf areas to maintain. These fields must be maintained properly to provide adequate turf, while minimizing the chance of injury to players.

The City has yet another wonderful recognition by a prestigious publication for the restoration work done on the History of Transportation Mural. The January/February 2009 edition of American Art Review magazine features the mural in an 8-page story, written and submitted by Anita Bennett of Young Communications of Los Angeles.

Racquet Ball and Weight Room facilities are available for use by residents and the community at large at both Rogers Park and Darby Park. A monthly membership fee is required. The racquet ball membership fee is $12 (resident) and $14 (non-residents); weight room membership is $10 (resident) and $12 (non-residents).
