Smart Gardening Composting Demonstration Workshop
The Inglewood Public Works Department’s Environmental Services & Waste Management Section conducted a Smart Gardening Composting Demonstration Workshop on Saturday, August 4 at the Arbor Vitae Park and Ride Center located at Arbor Vitae and Walnut Streets.  District 3 hosted this educational and enjoyable workshop, which demonstrated nature’s way of recycling with controlled decomposition of organic material such as twigs, grass clippings, and vegetable food waste.  Composting is an affective method of reducing the amount of organic materials deposited in our landfills.  Free composting bins were raffled, and information was distributed on how community members can obtain composting bins.  This event was a great success and captured the interest of all enthused participants.

Angela Williams, of our Public Works Department interpreted for hearing impaired participants, and Lisa Ryder of Waste Management demonstrated assembly of composting bins to the elated raffle winners.  Public Works looks forward to bringing the community future workshops promoting environmentally friendly practices.
