Earth Day 2011 at Queen Park

The Social Justice Learning Institute with in-kind support from the City of Inglewood presents "Earth Day 2011 - An Inglewood Community Wide Celebration." This event is sponsored by Disney, Home Depot, and Waste Management. Held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Queen Park in Inglewood, families from all over the South Bay will be celebrating the beauty of the Earth together as a community.

The City of Inglewood has a history of celebrating Earth Day in some way every year. To keep the momentum of the "100 Seeds Of Change" initiative going strong, this year, the Social Justice Learning Institute partnered with the Queen Park Learning Garden Committee (QPLGC), Science on Wheels Lab, and TreePeople to focus Earth Day beyond  the conservation of the Earth's resources. €Educating the community about organic gardening and the practices of turning food waste into compost are just two ways to expand the Earth Day conversation,€says Sandi Beamon, Director of Science On Wheels Lab and QPLGC member. €Earth Day 2011 will be a fun way to learn how to care for the Earth. Good music, good food, live performances, fun games, face painting, environmental science lessons, gardening workshops and demonstrations of healthy cooking are just a few things going on throughout the day.€
