Big 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Library on October 5th!

The Inglewood Public Library is proud to announce a public celebration of our 50th anniversary on Saturday, October 5th, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 101 West Manchester Boulevard, Inglewood, CA 90301.

Since 1963, we have been honored to answer any question and to provide books, movies, magazines, computer access, government documents and educational programs for children and adults to the people of Inglewood and the South Bay.  To welcome our members and neighbors, we will have activities for all ages:

  • A commemorative plaque presented at noon by Congresswoman Maxine Waters
  • Children's story times hosted by Ronald McDonald, Ina Buckner-Barnette and PBS's Cat in the Hat
  • Information tables from Covered California (Obamacare), El Camino College, LAX, the FBI and many others
  • Music, wandering entertainers and a magic show by Rafael and Katia
  • Free refreshments and gourmet food trucks

Mayor James T. Butts invites the citizens of Inglewood to join him in celebrating fifty years of free public library service.  "Join us to commemorate this milestone for our public library, where the history of Inglewood comes to life."

This free program is open to all.  Partial funding is provided by the Friends of the Inglewood Public Library, with incentives and prizes from our vendors and our partners in the community.  Free parking will be available on-site that day, or take Metro bus lines 40, 111, 115, 211, 212, 215, 311, 312, 442, 607 and 740.

For more information about this program call (310) 412-5380.
