As the City of Inglewood grows, it's position as a major regional retail location is becoming increasing apparent as evidenced by the major developments occurring within the City. Hollywood Park Marketplace is quickly becoming the one-stop shopping destination the City has been waiting for. The Alexander Haagen Company is making rapid progress with its plans to develop a 180,000 square foot retail center across the street from Hollywood Park Marketplace. Costco is expanding the size of its existing facility and Rothbart Development is finalizing commitments from big box and mid-size retailers on a 60 acre development immediately north of the Hollywood Park Entertainment Complex. Developers, retailers, investors and even the community will find the results interesting and favorable.
To better compete with surrounding communities and fulfill the commercial needs of the community, the City of Inglewood retained Kosmont Partners, Economic Consultants, to identify economic development and general real estate development opportunities for nine targeted areas within the City. The results of the analysis are intended to serve as the basis for the City to prepare an economic development strategy as a next phase of this overall effort.
This Report contains key summary information from two larger databases, organized as a part of the study. The assessment focuses on the City’s strengths and opportunities, key issues to be addressed as a City, looks forward and offers recommendations for next steps in planning and implementation strategies. Also included is a summary of the selected Physical Site Assessments and Opportunities presented in Volume II.
The final findings included in this report are presented with recommendations for the next phase of economic development activities, principally, the preparation of a Citywide Economic Development Strategic Plan. Included in this volume is a listing of potential major economic development initiatives derived from the identified economic and physical opportunities. Pursuit and implementation of these suggested initiatives will help to accomplish overall City economic development and redevelopment goals and objectives
