Explorer Program to retrofit True Vine Baptist Church, led by Rev. Austin Williams.

SCE representatives and volunteers retrofitted churches in four other cities, from 9 a.m. to noon, including First Lutheran Church, Carson; The Greater Open Door Church of God in Christ, Long Beach; Refuge Christian Center, Altadena; and First Southern Baptist Church, Compton. The churches could save more than 70 percent of the energy used by replacing lights with energy efficient, longer lasting lights.

SCE also provided small- and medium-sized businesses surrounding each church with free CFLs and a package of information on the Express Efficiency Rebate Program and Air Conditioning Cycling programs along with city and Chamber of Commerce information on local economic development activities.
