Volunteer Opportunities

The Inglewood Public Library is currently accepting applications from individuals who would like to volunteer in the library. Volunteers must be at least 15.5 years of age.  We have openings in the following areas:

1.  Homework Helpers

These volunteers help children in grades K-8 with their homework. Homework Helpers must have strong knowledge of grade school subjects, especially math and language arts. They must also be able to work patiently and encouragingly with children and parents. This position is only  available during the school year.

2.  Cyber Volunteers

Cyber Volunteers assist with computer classes taught by librarians, and can also help library visitors use the computers during regular hours. Cyber Volunteers also will staff the Cyber Lab in the Children's Division on Saturdays in October and November. Cyber Volunteer appliants must have some experience using Windows computers, as well as interest in learning new programs. They  will also need patience and a positive attitude.

3.  Reading Partners

Reading Partners are volunteers who read to children. They also allow children to practice reading aloud to them. Reading Partners must have clear reading voices, and be able to listen patiently as children read.

If you are interested in applying to be a Volunteer in the Inglewood Public Library, you will need to complete a Teen or Adult Volunteer Opportunities application which you can find HERE.  Complete the form and email it to Pamela Greene: pgreene@cityofinglewood.org  or turn it in to any public desk in the library.  We will get back to you as soon as possible. Once selected to be a volunteer, you will also need to complete an additional City of Inglewood Volunteer Application with specific document requirements before beginning your volunteer work in the Library.  We look forward to working with you!
