Housing Protection

Registration Important Update

WORKSHOPS ARE CANCELED

DUE TO COVID!!!

Out of an abundance of caution, and in the interest of public health and safety, the City of Inglewood Housing Protection Department has canceled all scheduled Residential Registry Workshops until further notice.

Please contact the Housing Protection Department at (310) 412-4330 for further assistance.

The City of Inglewood Housing Protection Department (COIHPD) is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the City’s rent regulations and just cause eviction protections.

The City’s online Inglewood Residential Registry System will allow Property Owners and Landlords to submit residential property information to meet the registration requirements set forth in Inglewood Municipal Code Section 8-126.

Property Owners and Landlords will be able to register their properties beginning January 7, 2022, by logging into the online Inglewood Residential Registry System: as well as verify registration information and submit requests for any exemptions. Property Owners and Landlords will receive an introduction letter explaining how to access the online Inglewood Residential Registry System.

The City Council approved an extension for the registration due date, and will waive the fees for properties registered between January 7, 2022 and March 31, 2022.  Registrations completed after the due date, between April 1, 2022 and April 30, 2022, will be responsible for paying the Registration fee regardless of their property type and exemption status.  Late penalties will be imposed starting May 1, 2022.

Registration fees are intended to recover the City’s reasonable costs associated with enforcing its Housing Protection regulations as set forth in Chapter 8 (Articles 9 and 10) of the Inglewood Municipal Code, and related inspection programs.

All residential properties with two (2) or more units and/or owned by a Company, Corporation, LLC, or REIT must register annually with COIHPD. After the program commences, new property owners have 30 days to register their residential property.

All properties with rental units must provide each tenant with a Registration Certificate declaring that the property is subject to or exempt from the Housing Protection Ordinance (HPO) and post a copy of the Registration Certificate in a conspicuous location on the property for all residents to view.  Click here to download the English HPO or the Spanish HPO.
