What is a Short-Term Rental?
A Short-Term Rental (STR) is a dwelling unit that is shared, in whole or in part, for transient occupancy for periods of up to 30 consecutive days or less as a way of generating rental income. Ordinance No. 22-15 allows hosted and unhosted short-term rentals, subject to limitations. An STR permit and the monthly remittance of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) payments are required.
All unregulated STR operators are expected to be in compliance with the ordinance by September 30, 2022. Anyone operating an STR must include a valid permit number in the rental listing. Anyone engaging in or advertising short-term rental activity that does not comply with the regulations set forth in Ordinance No. 22-15, may be subject to daily fines.
