About the Building Safety Division

The Building Safety Division is responsible for the review, approval, and inspection of all building projects within the City. The purpose of the Building Safety Division is to enforce minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation and green building systems, systems efficiency and property protection.

One of the primary goals of the Building Safety Division is to guide the public through the building construction process and to serve as a resource for building code and design issues.

Inspection Requests

The Building Inspection Request Hotline is (310) 412-4248.  One can call the hotline number between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and every other Friday.  Please do not leave inspection requests on the voicemail; you need to speak with someone to confirm your inspection.  An inspection request can be made two (2) working days after a permit is issued.
