About the Homicide Section
The Homicide Section investigates all homicides, suicides, kidnappings, suspicious deaths and officer involved shootings within the City of Inglewood. Due to the critical nature of these investigations, Inglewood detectives often work very closely with homicide investigators from Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies.
The Homicide Section is staffed with one sergeant and six detectives.
Homicide Detectives / Forensic Technology
Inglewood homicide detectives normally investigate crimes involving gang violence, serial murders, sexual assault murders and domestic violence murders. Through detailed investigations, detectives attempt to determine motives and trends and use this information not only to solve homicide cases, but to also help develop strategies to minimize future violent crime in City. With the recent advancement in forensic technology, detectives now have the ability to reopen many previous homicide cases that were once classified as unsolved. Through the matching of DNA evidence, much of the homicide detectives' attention is being dedicated to the review of several "cold cases."
Tip Hotline
The Homicide Section also maintains a 24-hour anonymous tip hotline as a resource for the community. Members of the public can call the number 888-41-CRIME (888-412-7463) at any time and leave information related to a crime. On occasion, this resource has proven beneficial to detectives and the involved families of crime victims.
