About the Robbery Section


The Section is staffed with three Detectives and one Sergeant. Detectives assigned to this Section are responsible for investigating all types of robbery crimes. Although capable of investigating any crime, Robbery Detectives focus on developing expertise in their area of assignment. Their specialized training and experience are instrumental in solving numerous crimes, and they have a close partnership with the local District Attorney's Office to successfully prosecute criminals.

Process


Detectives are assigned to investigate a case after the patrol officer takes a preliminary crime report. After the investigation is completed, detectives present the case to the local District Attorney's Office for prosecution. If the District Attorney's Office agrees, the suspect is then formally charged and the detective will follow the case through the Court process.

Through the use of a variety of methods, including crime analysis, networking with allied agencies and information from citizens, profiles can be developed to identify potential future criminal behavior. This information can assist the Department coordinate effective crime suppression and/or apprehension efforts. The ultimate goal is to identify the perpetrator of a crime, and assist the District Attorney's Office with a successful prosecution.

If you have any questions regarding a particular robbery case, please call the listed telephone number. When inquiring about a case, please have your report number available. This number is referred to as a "GO number" and begins with the last two numbers of the year that the report was made, followed by four to seven numbers (e.g. 17-0001). This will assist the staff in determining the current status of your case, and the name of the assigned investigator.
