Library Board

In light of the evolving concerns of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Governor’s direction on mass gatherings, the City of Inglewood is taking the following steps to ensure the health and safety of our community and our employees.
The Library will be closed from March 16 through March 31.
All library programs and events have been cancelled.

The Library Board is established under the provisions of the Inglewood City Charter and Sections 2-98 through 2-106 of the Inglewood Municipal Code. The five members of the Board, one from each Councilman District and one from the City at large, receive no compensation for their services.  Council members recommend nominees to represent their Districts. The members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council.

The Library Board’s duties and functions are "to act in a general advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the municipal library operation..." The Board may "accept on behalf of the City all offers of donations of money or personal property, where no conditions or burdens are attached to such offer," and to recommend as to the acceptance or rejection of other offers of donations. Refer to Section 2-106 of the Inglewood Municipal Code for a more complete and detailed list of duties and functions.
