[ARCHIVED] Summer Reading Program

Summer reading event flyers.2018

Experience our new interactive Summer Reading Program for all ages!

Anyone can join at the Main Library or at  Crenshaw Imperial Branch Library between June 1 and July 27. At sign-up, participants will receive items to successfully complete the program (envelope, book bag, bookmark, pencil, etc.).

Children from Preschool through 8th grade are asked to read at least 8 books to complete the program. The “Reading Takes You Everywhere” program features 8 fantastical mobiles to make that encourage reading, writing and artwork. Children can choose a mobile to create from “Ancient Egypt”, their “Neighborhood”, “Outer Space”, “The Beach”, “Fairy Tale Land”, “The Zoo”, “Road Trip - the World”, to “Road Trip USA”. For every book read, participants will receive a piece to a mobile to color, decorate, and attach. Once the mobile is completed, children will bring it to the library where we will take their photograph and attach it to the mobile. The mobile will then be hung in the Children’s Area for the remainder of the summer and returned at the Grand Finale Party at the Main Library on Saturday, August 4.

Young Adults and Adults can participate in their own Summer Reading program by reading and collecting incentives
