News Release - Officer Involved Shooting

On Friday, June 22, 2018, at approximately 11:00PM, two uniformed Inglewood Police Officers were driving in the area of the Inglewood Police Station (1 W. Manchester Bl.) when they encountered a suspect, who pointed what appeared to be a handgun, at the officers. An officer involved shooting occurred and the suspect was struck by gunfire. The suspect was treated at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and expired at the scene. The officers were uninjured.

The item that the suspect possessed appeared to be a handgun. Upon closer inspection the handgun was determined to be a pellet/BB Gun designed to look like a .44 Super Magnum handgun (see below photos of the same gun). Video surveillance of the encounter has been maintained as evidence. The District Attorneys Officer Involved Shooting roll-out team is conducting a parallel investigation.
