Press Release

chief

Today, the Inglewood Police Department was made aware of unacceptable and threatening social media message postings from personal Facebook accounts to a Private Facebook Group.

Today, the Inglewood Police Department was made aware of unacceptable and threatening social media message postings from personal Facebook accounts to a Private Facebook Group. These posts included threats of violence directed towards Mr. Jeffery Shaun King, who is a writer, civil rights activist, and co-founder of Real Justice PAC. It has been alleged that a retired law enforcement officer of the Inglewood Police Department, had posted threatening comments in a message thread of this same Facebook Group.

To be clear, the name that was used in the Facebook post, is not that of any current IPD officer and we have no verification at this time that the retired officer is responsible for the comment that is being attributed to him.
The Inglewood Police Department and City of Inglewood leadership find the comments to be outrageous, disgusting, and are the antithesis of our core values as a City.
The Inglewood Police Department has contacted the FBI in reference to this matter.
