1. When will the Inglewood Housing Authority Division Wait List open and close?

The Inglewood Housing Authority Division wait list is currently closed.

2. How do I apply for assistance?

You must apply online when the waitlist opens. No paper applications will be accepted and no applications are being accepted at the Housing Division.

3. What information do I need to complete an application?

You will need to provide the names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers for all of the people who will live with you when you are on the program. You will also need to provide information about your income and any assets you may have.

Types of income include the following.
 - Any Other Source of Income
 - Business or Professional Income
 - Child Support
 - Military Pay
 - Pensions
 - Social Security
 - SSI
 - Unemployment Income
 - Wages
 - Welfare

Types of assets include checking and savings accounts, stock, bonds, CDs, real estate and other investments.

5. How can I obtain assistance if I am an individual with disabilities and don’t have a computer?

If you need an accommodation due to a disability or limited English proficiency, you may contact the Housing Division at 310-412-5221.

6. What is the City of Inglewood Housing Division’s local preference policy?

The Inglewood Housing Division has local preference which gives priority to serving those families who meet the following criteria:
 - Displaced Preference - Involuntary displaced applicants who have or will be required to vacate housing in Inglewood due to a disaster, federal, state or local government action, Ellis Act or Civil Code Section 798.56(g) or owner/occupancy evictions.
 - Residential Preference - Residents of the City of Inglewood, applicants who work in the city of Inglewood a minimum of 36 hours per week, applicants on the Tenant Based Rental Assistance program or Homeless program.
 - Military Preference - Families of current member of US military including active reserves, families of US veterans, or surviving spouses of US veterans.
 Singles Lack of Preference: Single applicants (1 person household) who are elderly or disabled shall have priority over other singles.

7. Do I have to live in Inglewood to apply?

No, anyone can apply.

8. How can I be sure my application was submitted?

When you successfully submit your application, an Application Receipt which lists the waiting list you applied for, the date and time your application was received, and the Application ID will appear on the screen. Please print and retain this receipt for your records.

9. How can I check the status of my application?

You may check the status of your application by logging onto the Wait List website and inputting your social security number and your year of birth. Please note that confirmation of receipt of your application to IHA does not mean you are automatically eligible for assistance. You may also check the status of your application by visiting waitlistcheck.com. Be prepared to enter your year of birth and social security number.

10. When I check my status on the Wait List website, it shows my status as inactive. Why?

At the time of application your status will remain in an inactive status until the waitlist has closed and we complete the lottery selection.  After the lottery selection if your case is still inactive this mean you were not selected to be on the waitlist.  If you case shows active this mean you were selected and your name is placed on the waiting list.

11. How do I inform the Inglewood Housing Division of a change of address after submitting my application?

You must notify the Inglewood Housing Division of any changes to your address or eligibility status by submitting the information in writing to:

12. How long will it take before I receive housing assistance?

Unfortunately we are unable to determine the length of time you will have to wait before your name reaches the top of the list. Names are taken from the waiting list as those currently being assisted leave the program and new funds become available. New funds are not received on a regular basis and we do not know when funding will be available.
