1. Do I need a permit for a large trash container or construction bin?

Large trash containers and construction bins that will be placed in the street must be properly permitted. An Encroachment Permit must be obtained from the Public Works Department office located at: Public Works Department City Hall 1 Manchester Boulevard 3rd Floor Inglewood, CA 90301

The fee is $212 per week. For encroachment at meters, the fee is $7 per meter per day in addition to the weekly encroachment fee. Large trash containers must be obtained from Waste Management, 310-677-6500. They are the only authorized solid waste hauler in the City of Inglewood.

3. What is a Construction Permit?

A Construction Permit is necessary for activities such as cutting, removing, or reconstructing curbs, curb and gutter, parkway drains, driveways, and/or sidewalks.

The purpose of the permit is to enable the City to monitor work and activities performed within the public right-of-way. Issuing permits assures that plans comply with the Public Works Standard Specifications. A copy of Contractor’s License and proof of liability insurance is required before permit is issued.

4. What is a Moving Permit?

A Moving Permit is necessary for transporting an over-sized load through the City of Inglewood. Liability insurance must be filed with the City before permit is issued. There is a $16 fee per day or an annual fee of $90. For further information, please contact the Permit Section at 310-412-5333.

5. What is an Encroachment Permit?

An encroachment permit is necessary if you will be using any part of the public right of way for storing materials, placing a construction bin, detouring traffic or parking equipment in the street over night. Encroachment permits are issued for temporary and long-term placements.

6. What is an Excavation Permit?

Excavation Permits are necessary when any portion of the public right of way is trenched or excavated. For more information, contact the Permit Section at 310-412-5333. A copy of Contractor’s License and proof of liability insurance is required before permit is issued.
