Sabrina Barnes has been employed with the City of Inglewood since 1991.
In January of 2008, after a brief stint as Interim Director, Ms. Barnes
was appointed Director of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services
Department. She is responsible for the development and oversight of
recreation programming, park planning, strategic planning, parks
maintenance, tree maintenance, youth, family and senior services,
library services, program and activities and graffiti abatement,
overseeing the budget, and the more than 150 associated department
staff, including full-time and part-time employees. Ms. Barnes also
serves as the staff liaison for the Parks and Recreation Commission and
Arts Commission.
Ms. Barnes began her parks and recreation
career as a Recreation Leader with the City's Recreation and Library
Services Department; held a succession of four positions with the City
as a Program Specialist, Administrative Analyst, and Sr. Recreation
Supervisor. Prior to her appointment as Director, she served as
Recreation Superintendent for five years.
With over 20 years of
cumulative experience in managing, directing, coordinating and teaching
park and recreational programs and systems, Ms. Barnes describes
herself as results-driven, detail oriented and passionately committed to
the City of Inglewood and its residents.
Ms. Barnes is a
current member of the National Parks and Recreation Association (NPRA),
and California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS).
