In most situations, an accident is just that, an accident and police involvement is not needed. Simply exchange information and file a claim with your respective insurance companies. There are some exceptions however. 1) If either party is injured. 2) If either party fled the scene before giving information (you may also file an online report by CLICKING HERE if the accident was minor, however the other party fled the scene. 3) If there is significant damage to either vehicle and that vehicle is unable to be driven 4) If either party is not cooperating or you fear for your safety. **Remember if at any time there is a medical or physical emergency dial 9-11 immediately.**
In most cases, this is enough for your insurance company. As long as there were no injuries and both parties were insured and remained at the scene, police involvement is not needed.
